Cellino is smarter then we think
By: Jeremy | December 20th, 2007Even if you are a fan of another team, you have to be aware of the latest recall of Giampaolo to coach the team because Sonetti couldnt get enough points against the likes of Roma, Milan, and Inter. Sonetti deserves more of a chance even if it was wrong to fire Giampaolo. Even a crazy man like Cellino knows it. Sonettis resignation may be just a big conspiracy to get some additional money for some January transfers.
Despite being fired as coach, Giampaolo is still under contract to the club. If he refuses an assignment, the club is no longer required to pay his contract. So after a few drinks which leads to a call to Inter asking them to loan Suazo back for a few months, Cellino calls Sonetti and tells him to resign, he will then recall Giampaolo, Giampaolo will refuse with good reason, Sonettis rejection will then be refused, and Giampaolo will be gone saving the club money to spend on transfers in January. The price of a young coaches dignity. Sonetti is now happy because he will have some new players that he thinks will save the club from relegation so he can be relieved of his duties in the summer.
This is all wishful thinking as Giampaolo would probably walk away without further payment if they would let him out of his contract. Surely he wants as far away from Cellino as possible. That would be too easy for a team in such disarray. The only conclusion beyond insanity is that Cellino and Sonetti are formulating this plan because it is getting them some money that would otherwise go to Giampaolo. If there are no brilliant transfer moves in January, then the clubs current position in the table will look really good in about 8 weeks.
Bring on Fiorentina.

[...] Cellino, the complete lunatic who is his boss, and “knows what he must do.” Barring the appealing fantasy spun by Jeremy over at the brand new Cagliari blog (ignore the Arsenal header, the design’s not done yet), [...]
