Your Move Cellino

By: Jeremy | September 25th, 2008

I am not normally a big fan of firing a coach after such a short time, but something clearly has to be done to shake this team up. Again we lost to a team that really isnt that much better then we are. Atalantas goal in the 79th minute in Bergamo sent Cagliari to its fourth defeat in four Serie A matches. We prop up the table with no points. Clearly unnacceptable.

Allegri has to know he is in trouble when the opposing coach, after beating you, praises your team and says that you should not be in last place. I hate condescending ass kissing by opposing coaches who just got three points off you. Say it after we beat you and then Ill appreciate your comments. If Matri could occasionally finish his chances and Larrivey could score instead of hit the bar, the Atalanta coach wouldnt be so full of praise for our team.

Allegri is really in a no win situation and his job was really doomed from the start. You take away a popular coach who lead you to miraculous survival, fail to keep Storari with no explanation, and let Foggia walk when you have a cheap purchase option, all while bringing in no new players of relevance, and what do you expect? The team certainly is not going to be better then last year and the talent level is so thin, that without someone who can make a difference, you end up in last place real quick, most often the result of close losses, and with a crazy owner who blames everyone but himself for the teams performance, you are in trouble. Not a good receipe for job security.

I often get frustrated that I root for a team who is likely to lose when they play a match. They have no stars and no one people really want to see play. Its like we are filler for Serie A and teams come in when they are hurting and need points. Yes we play hard and score the occasional victory, but its just not fun to watch. We deserve better and Cellino is not providing it so he needs to make a move to correct his own mistakes. If it makes him look more foolish and the team gets even worse, then its on him as he started this mess in the offseason.

The good news is that only needing to finish in 17th place for our season to be considered successful, even with this bad start, our relegation rivals are still in sight. A win this weekend against Lecce puts us back in the mix.

Other then the Lazio defeat which I blame on the red card, our losses have been close. What is the answer? Obviously we need players, but is the coach lacking something that can atleast get some points in these matches? Was the teams spirit broken when Ballardini was not retained and the good players allowed to walk? Either way, we need to find some help. I dont even know which coach we could bring in, but the Allegri experiment is not working. The players have not been able to respond so when there is no open transfer window, its the coach who gets the ax.

So when do you pull the trigger Cellino? Do you wait until after the Lecce match where a loss is an automatic sacking for Allegri or do you do it now when you have an upcoming game against what is considered a weak opponent. Either way you need to do something because this pattern of losing is going to get out of hand and will not be corrected. If we beat Lecce, will you postpone the inevitable? I dont see how you can.

Something is going to happen within the next week. Allegri, you deserve respect, but you were baited into a bad situation and since the team cant seem to score goals either because they lack talent or you cant seem to put out an offensive minded lineup, its time for you to go before even 17th place seems like miracle.

Its your move Cellino.

Allegri was indeed doomed from the start. And seeing how well Sassuolo is doing in B, you might start to think that it wasn’t really all thanks to Allegri that they promoted last year…

Jeremy, I am totally upset with President Cellino and I am calling for the sacking of coach Allegri. Actually, Allegri should have the deceny to resign based on his results. I cannot forgive Cellino for not keeping coach Davide Ballardini now saving Palermo!

    Allegri’s results:

    Week 1: Cagliari 1 – 4 Lazio
    Week 2: AC Siena 2 – 0 Cagliari
    Week 3: Cagliari 0 – 1 Juventus
    Week 4: Atalanta 1 – 0 Cagliari
    Week 5: Lecce 2 – 0 Cagliari

    What else is Cellino expecting???????
Wake up and smell the coffee!.. Plus, my Milan is to play against Cagliari on Sunday.OUCH!
