Cagliari-Parma Preview

Things seem to be quiet in Sardinia this week as Ballardini really has the lads preparing for this weeks huge game against Parma and Cellino has also been failry quiet absent his comments on wanting more refs for a game. When you are last in the table with 14 points, every game is important. This is especially true when the game is at home against a team that is suddenly facing a relegation battle of its own.

Parma has had some bad luck over the past few weeks and is winless in its last 5 matches. This has allowed some other teams to pass them and the clear relegation candidates to get that much closer. A loss to Cagliari will really get them concerned. Parma has not won in Sardinia since Cagliaris return to Serie A in 2004. Parmas recent poor form and Cagliari feeling as confident as ever after games against Napoli and Juventus makes this a match up that Cagliari can and should win if they really want to avoid relegation.

If Larrivey gets anywhere near the field, Ballardini should be fired. Lets hope the coach starts Acquafresca or even Matri with the lineup he used last week against Juve. If they play like they did last week, they will score. Foggia may be out as someone touched him during last weeks game causing him pain that prevents him from playing. Feeling pain or not, he needs to put on the uniform and be ready to be subbed in at the very least. You hate when your best player looks like a glass doll that you win at a carnival.

I expect Cagliari to use their recent confidence to push the action and create some scoring chances. Parma can score too and also pushes to attack. This could lead to a similar style match as the game against Juve last week.

If Cagliari can get the first goal, they have a great shot at winning. Someone new will step up this week and lead the team to victory in what should be a wide open exciting match.
